Kambo Preparation
How to prepare for your session
Preparation for a Kambo treatment is an important part of the process, an inseparable part of the experience, ensuring that the ceremony is safe, peaceful, and precise for you. It allows the body to work safely, cleanse efficiently, and helps you arrive at the ceremony calm, focused, and ready. Here you can understand what is important to do - and what to avoid - in order to undergo a deep and precise process.
Who is Kambo not suitable for?
Kambo is a powerful medicine that acts directly on the physical body and the nervous system. Therefore, there are certain groups for whom Kambo is prohibited or not recommended β to avoid unnecessary risk and maintain full safety.
Conditions where Kambo is strictly prohibited:- Severe heart problems
- Intracranial hypertension / Brain blood vessel issues
- Unbalanced neurological diseases
- Medically unbalanced epilepsy
- Pregnancy / Breastfeeding period
- Immunosuppressive drugs
- Acute kidney diseases
- History of stroke

What must be avoided before the treatment?
To maintain full safety and allow the Kambo to work clearly and precisely, there are several things you must avoid before the treatment. Avoiding these protects the body and prepares your internal system for the medicine -
- Alcohol - avoid at least 5 days before - Alcohol affects the liver and blood pressure, and Kambo works deeply on these systems. The combination can burden the body.
- Heavy and fatty food - avoid 5 days prior - This food stays in the digestive system for a long time. The cleaner the body, the more stable the experience.
- Caffeine - avoid the day before and day of - Caffeine raises heart rate and blood pressure, and the medicine itself also affects the cardiovascular system.
- Cannabis - avoid at least 24 hours before - The combination can cloud the mind and impair your ability to be present. My personal recommendation is to stop for a few days if possible.
- Other drugs - completely avoid a week prior - This is a fundamental safety condition. It is strictly forbidden to mix this medicine with other psychoactive substances.
- Sexual intercourse - avoid 3β5 days before - The reason is energetic and physiological: Kambo requires internal resources, and it is best to conserve your energy for the process.
- Fasting before treatment - 8 to 14 hours - Eat your last meal the evening before. Do not arrive with a full stomach - it creates a burden on the body.
How to prepare physically and mentally?
Preparation is an inseparable part of the Kambo treatment itself. The more focused, calm, and clean you arrive β the more harmoniously your body can work, allowing the medicine to enter deeper. Here are a few principles to help you arrive optimally. To ensure a stable, clean, and comfortable experience β it is recommended to bring a few basic items. These are not mandatory requirements, but they significantly upgrade your comfort during the treatment. For information on the treatment stages themselves β click hereProper Hydration
Drink water in a balanced way the day before the treatment. Avoid excessive drinking β the body should be balanced, not flooded with fluids.
Light & Clean Diet
The day before β Light, plant-based, unprocessed food is recommended. Avoid dairy, excessive sugar, and heavy meals.
Sleep & Rest
Get a good night's sleep the night before. The body needs to arrive in its most stable range.
Mental & Emotional Prep
It is advisable to set a clear intention: What do you want to release? What do you want to invite into your life? You can write, meditate, or simply sit in silence.
Comfortable Space
It is important to arrive without pressure, without the rush of a busy day. A calm and focused energy affects the entire course of the treatment.
What to bring?
Comfortable clothes, water, tissues/towel, hair tie (if you have long hair), a small blanket if you tend to get cold, and a bucket - if not provided on site.
What happens after the treatment and what to know?
The Kambo treatment does not end the moment the ceremony is over β the body and mind continue to work and cleanse in the hours and days that follow. It is important to understand what to expect, how to support yourself, and what to do to allow deep integration and full healing. We can expect to feel:
- Fatigue or a need to rest - The body is doing deep work - rest is part of the treatment.
- The body in a sensitive state - Sometimes subtle insights, sensations, or emotions arise. This is natural.
- A sense of clarity and energy - Many report a feeling of physical and mental lightness.
- Increased bowel movements or sweating - The body continues to expel toxins - this is normal.
- Thirst or a need to drink - Drink only in moderation - not overly large amounts.
In the days following the treatment, give yourself time to rest! Listen to your body. The recommendation is to eat light food, such as soups, vegetables, and light carbohydrates, and avoid processed and fatty foods for 24 hours. Allow space for breathing, meditation, walking in nature, and writing. Avoid cannabis and other mind-altering substances as much as possible for at least 24 hours after the treatment β but my personal recommendation is to hold off as long as possible, to allow the qualities of Kambo to enter and deepen within our bodies. From extensive experience, this is incredibly important.
